We are very thankful that over the past five years many of you have participated in our “Crab & Go” to benefit local foster children through Agape Villages Foster Family Agency. We are sorry to inform you that we will be unable to host the crab feed this year. However, Agape still needs our support in order to provide loving homes for children in need.
We want to raise $6,000 by March 24. And it will be matched! See below for how to give.
Here is a story from one of the foster families to illustrate some of the wonderful things Agape does.
We received a phone call on a Thursday night about 2 little girls that needed a home, Rosie and Bella. My husband and I prayerfully decided to say yes and care for these sweet girls. They were dropped off the next day by a county social worker with a large black garbage bag full of random clothing. These girls were 3 and 4 years old but had clothes meant for teen boys in there. The county worker walked them up to the door, I signed a paper and they turned and left the kids on the doorstep. It was so cold.
Thankfully we had Agape! They came in within hours of the girls arriving to check on them and see what we and they needed. We all went down to an Agape office where they were able to pick out some clothes and shoes of their own. Our Agape social worker stayed with the kids in the house, playing and talking with them, helping them feel comfortable. We had such great support!
As they were with us we saw so much change. These sweet little girls came in using really foul language and lots of hitting. They slowly learned that we use our body for good things like hugs and high fives not hurting one another. We showed them that our words are for lifting up and encouraging one another. Everyone in their lives were amazed by the progress.
After a few weeks we received a call that the county was moving the kids to a home where they could be with their biological older sisters. They were moved to that home within a day. But I will forever have the image of those girls on that last day. I was in the kitchen, they were sitting on the couch in the living room, with the sun shining on them while they were playing with their dolls. I stood there just staring at them in awe, they had been through so much for such small kids, but there they sat singing “Jesus loves me”. What a blessing it was to me to watch this transformation. From using foul language to knowing how loved they are and using the voice for worship instead. God is good.
We are so thankful for everything Agape gave the kids and us through this process.
As you can see the need is still strong! Be a hero, rescue children like Rosie and Bella.
We are so fortunate to have very generous donors willing to match all donations up to $6,000 by March 24. That means your money is DOUBLED! Turning our $6,000 of donations into $12,000!!
Please be as generous as you can be to help Agape Villages provide loving homes for local children in need.
Make your best donation today and be a hero for kids in foster care!
Thank you for your kind consideration.
To God be the Glory!
Sincerely,
Brennan Pendley
